Here are our recent Craigslist ListingsAs we prepare to sell our home of 39 years, we have started downsizing by listing our special items on Craig's List. Such items include pieces of Antique Furniture and a huge Old Growth Redwood board we had set aside for projects that never quite happened.
Our 91" x 34" x 2" thick Redwood plank was sawn from a log that drifted ashore in the 1970's, north of Cape Blanco. It was one of two planks that we had purchased from Dick Tucker's old Sawmill in Langlois. We had one of the planks converted by our local furniture/cabinet maker guy into the front door for our home. Then we set aside the second plank - the one you see below - for a project that never happened. This beautiful wood has to be the oldest of Old Growth and has been drying now for at least 25 years. I find it hard to imagine that there are many other pieces like this one in existence. And today, I don't think modern sawmills can even physically handle Old Growth size logs... We have enjoyed growing old in Port Orford and are now beginning the process of downsizing and moving to Vancouver. Since we still have our home in Port Orford, you may pick up the plank in either Port Orford or Vancouver, whichever is easier. |
